Toshiba Qosmio G55

After much speculation and plenty of leaked information on the web, Toshiba today announced the expansion of the Qosmio line of multimedia and gaming notebooks. The new Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55 offer unique styling and some impressive features. Let's take a quick look.

Toshiba Qosmio G55

The Qosmio G55 is the first laptop to incorporate a "parallel media co-processor" (the Cell processor co-developed by Toshiba, Sony and IBM for the PlayStation 3). This time Toshiba is calling it the "Toshiba Quad Core HD Processor", but the bottom line for consumers is that you get greater speed for multimedia tasks like transcoding video. The Qosmio G55 also features up to 500GB of hard drive storage space, and is the first laptop from Toshiba to include an 18.4-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite (glossy) high-definition display. The primary benefit of the 18.4" display over the traditional 17.1" displays is that the new, larger LCD natively supports the true 16:9 image ratio used for widescreen HD movies.
